Sants is known as an industrial neighborhood where the Catalan textile industry revolutionized Sants from its agricultural roots. You can now visit the "La España Industrial" park or visit the old Vapor Vell factory (now a public library), among other buildings representative of the time.
If you leave Plaza Espanya and take the Sants road you can pass through one of the city's most important commercial streets, with 4 kilometers of road containing 500 businesses next to each other that form the longest commercial street in Europe.
August 24th is an important date in the neighborhood, which is the Festa Major. They close off streets and are filled instead with concerts, open-air activities, sardanas (the typical Catalan dance) habañeras, chocolatadas, or butifarradas (butifarra is a typical Catalan sausage).
