Sants-Montjuïc: Sants is an industrial area and due to its proximity to the city center, one of the busiest; being home to the Estació de Sants, you can catch the train service on the AVE to other major Spanish cities and on Rodalies (RENFE-operated commuter trains in Catalunya) from here. You’ll also find the Parc de l’Espanya Industrial and the Casinet d’Hostafrancs. August 24th is the day you’ll want to be in Sants, as it’s the Festa Major where you’ll find concerts, open-air activities, sardanas (the traditional Catalan dance), habaneras, chocolatadas, or butifarradas (butifarra is a typical Catalan sausage). In Montjuïc (meaning “mountain of the Jews” in Catalan), you’ll find parks, gardens, and museums like the Fundació Joan Miró and the MNAC: the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya which is one of the most important in Europe for Roman and Gothic art. The Font Magic, or Magic Fountain designed by Carles Buigas, is found here and the show is a spectacle worth watching. The area has great paths for jogging and boasts a large number of installations from the 1992 Olympics.
