This part of Barcelona is much more open than more central areas of the city, with wide avenues making it feel bright, and more relaxed. Neighborhood information

Sant Martí
Your modern, hypaethral home

Overview
Sant Martí is a varied district.

Urban and residential centres in the north. Sprawling beaches in the south. This place wrote the book on having the best of both worlds.

So will you have a fast-paced city kind of day or a relaxing, sand-sea-and-sun kind of day?

In Sant Martí, the choice is yours.

What can I do here?
Check out the colourful Barcelonian emblem that is Torre Agbar.

It’s a 144-metre skyscraper, a finger pointing to the stars. On Friday, Saturday and Sundays evenings, 4,500 LEDs transform it into a luminous fountain of colour. Awesome.

Hunt for bargains at the Mercat dels Encants. It’s a busy flea market that takes place under a reflective mirrored canopy. Think Terminator 2 (T-1000).

Feeling lazy?

Head to the beaches to swim and sunbathe. The sand is golden, the trinket sellers many, the sun a blessing.

When thirst attacks, head to Kalinda chiringuito. It’s a bar on the beach. They have raised decking facing the sea. Idyllic.

Hungry?

Go to Plaça de Prim. It’s home to fish restaurant Els Pescadors. One of those places you go to for simple, fresh food that tastes fine. (It’s a little expensive, though.)

Order a delicious, fresh fideuà. It’s like paella, but with seafood and noodles instead of rabbit and rice. Enjoy.

Fun fact
Torre Agbar was designed by architect Jean Nouvel. And Jean took his inspiration from Gaudí’s Sagrada Familia and the never-built Hotel Attraction. Inspired.

Can I afford it?
€€ (mid-range)
