Your medieval, romantic and central home
Overview
Dreamy, atmospheric, marked by history. The fast-beating heart of Barcelona city centre.
Welcome to Barri Gòtic.
It's one of Barcelona's oldest neighbourhoods. So there's plenty for you to explore. The architecture is gloomy neo-gothic. Narrow streets twist and turn. Each a path leading you back to the past.
What will you find?
What can I do here?
Take yourself for a wander down Las Ramblas.
It's a 1.2-kilometre road. You can explore palaces, admire street performers and avoid flower sellers. There's an El Corte Inglés department store, too.
You can find La Boqueria here too. It's a fresh-food market with 300 stalls. You can buy anything from garlic to guacamole, honey to jamón (ham). There's a food school. Local chefs and sommeliers share their wisdom.
Thirsty?
Stroll down to Plaça Reial. Sit under the the palm trees. Sip a beer. Lean back into the Mediterranean vibe. Elegant colonial buildings surround you. Shadowy arches. High windows. Fading wooden shutters.
Contemplate the gothic architecture of Barcelona cathedral. It's 800 years old and covered in gargoyles.
Travel back in time as you wander the narrow streets. The buildings lean overhead, almost touching.
Shopaholic? You'll love the boutiques on Carrer d'Avinyó.
At Number 7 you'll find La Manual Alpargatera. It sells espadrille-inspired shoes. It's whispered they cut their colours from a real rainbow. Grey-purple-green? No problem.
Fun fact
The famous bar Els Quatre Gats, housed in Casa Martí, was a favourite of Pablo Picasso. Genius.
Can I afford it? €€€ (expensive)
