This location is perfect for young people wanting to live within walking distance to a great range of entertainment options. This central and well-connected area is considered one of the best places to live in Barcelona. Train station Barcelona França with access to a series of regional and long distance trains is located five minutes away from the apartment. This apartment is compact, offering a total floor area of 20 sqm, but it is perfectly suitable to accommodate a single person or a couple.

Details

This apartment is located on the fifth floor of a building which is equipped with an elevator. The apartment has a hot/cold air-conditioning unit and central water heating. The price of rent includes utilities (water, electricity, gas, heating and WiFi), bed linen, towels and a cleaning service when you check out of the property. There is a safe box available to store your valuables. The minimum lease for this apartment is 30 days (1 month).

Transportation

This apartment is located five minutes away (400m) from Barcelona França, a major railway station from where you can catch regional and medium distance trains, as well as long distance services to Valencia and Alicante. Metro station Jaume I (L4) is located 300m from the apartment.

Landlord policies

Smoking is not permitted in the apartment. Pets are not allowed. The English speaking landlord does not live in the apartment. Rent can be paid through bank transaction or with a credit card. Check in policy: Please note that check-in starts from 15:00 h at the central office. If you arrive before this time, and if there is space in the office, you may leave your luggage at reception. The reception opening hours are from 10:00 to 20:00 h.

Check-in outside of these hours takes place in the apartments and will be an automatic check in. You must call the Landlord to receive the code to access the building and keys.

In case you arrive after 20:00, require a person to open the door for you, and do a “Personal check in,” there will be an extra charge of 40 euros. You must request this service at least one day prior to your arrival. Personal check in at the apartment is not possible after 01:30 h.

Neighborhood information

El Born, in the Middle Ages, started being the place where celebrations and jousts were held, but little by little, the wealthy merchants decided to build their palaces in the area on streets such as the Carrer de Moncada; today you can still visit some of these houses, like the one that houses the Museu Picasso or the Palau Dalmases. Part of the neighborhood was destroyed in 1714 to make way for the Ciutadella military fortress, from which a few buildings are preserved. The Ciutadella is today an enormous park where people seek to disconnect on weekends. In the daytime you can visit one of the city's most beautiful churches: Santa Maria del Mar, built thanks to the area's businessmen and residents. A novel, La Esglesia del Mar (La Catedral de Mar in Spanish), by Ildefonso Falcones, is set during the period of the church's construction. And at night, thousands of bars and restaurants open their doors to Barcelona's most cosmopolitan and alternative people.

What we liked the most

  • The best feature of this apartment is the beautiful terrace, equipped with a table with two chairs and two outdoor armchairs. This lovely outdoor space overlooks the stunning Basilic Santa Maria del Mar, one the city's premier gothic buildings. You can never get tired of sitting back and admiring the breathtaking beauty of this building.
  • This apartment is brand new and offers a fully tiled modern bathroom and a comfortable kitchen equipped with a good selection of appliances including a washing machine, a coffee machine, an electric stove with two elements and a microwave.

Things to keep in mind

  • The apartment is small but makes very good use of the existing space. The sofa bed can be put away during the day to create a comfortable living area and the dining table can be extended when you are having dinner or be reduced in size while not in use.
  • The owner of this apartment owns several studio apartments within the building with the same layout and design.
