Molenbeek: In the Middle Ages, thousands of pilgrims gathered in this district to witness the magical well of Saint Gertrude. Today, this mainly residential is known to be a multicultural district. A mixture of working-class and migrant communities prevails here, making this area quite urban. Featuring plenty of nature among some of more modern buildings, Molenbeek St Jean is also home to the Karreveld castle, which is used for a variety of cultural events, the Brasserie de la Senne brewery and the nature park Scheutbos. Many metro lines run through this district, allowing easy access to the city centre.

What we liked the most

  • The distribution of the apartment allows for privacy for each tenant; the common areas are located on the second floor, while the private rooms are on the upper level.
  • The kitchen is spacious and has an open layout. There is also a dining area with an extra table and chairs where you can enjoy your meals.
  • The living room is furnished with a large sofa and has a pleasant view of the neighboring gardens and rooftops.
  • As the bedrooms are on the top floor, it has slanted ceilings with skylights.
  • The apartment has central heating that automatically adjusts to the outdoor temperature.
  • There are 2 bathrooms in the apartment, both equipped with a toilet, sink, and shower or bathtub.

Things to keep in mind

  • The apartment building does not have an elevator.
  • There is an attic, but you will not have access to it.
