There are convenience stores nearby where you can buy essential groceries, and a Mace supermarket is a 10-15 minute walk away. Also nearby are a few local restaurants and pubs. Dublin city centre is a 30-minute bus journey away, one stopping on Abbey Street, a 5-minute walk from Trinity College.

While Clontarf does not have a village centre, this village was historically split into two parts - one towards the city and the Vernon Avenue which was known as the fishing village.
