Salamanca:

As Madrid’s affluent neighborhood, you’ll find a New York-style grid of roads and the “Milla de Oro”, comprised of Calle Serrano, Velázquez, and Ortega y Gasset, which are three of the most expensive streets in all of Spain. But not everything is designer: many of the other side streets have unique boutiques and hip restaurants. With a 19th century bourgeoisie feel, you’ll have great shopping options, Retiro at the end of Calle Serrano at the Puerta de Alcalá, and the IE Business School campus all within walking distance.

What we liked the most

  • AC will be a welcome addition during the sweltering summer months.
  • The kitchen is fully-equipped and even has a coffee maker for those who cannot survive without a coffee in the mornings.
  • There is a cosy living-room, complete with TV, where you can relax in the evenings after work.
  • The apartment has some quirky features, such as the stove and chimney breast, that lend it character.
  • This location is ideal for those seeking some peace and quiet and a sophisticated atmosphere.

Things to keep in mind

  • The apartment is located on the 6th floor of a building without an elevator but at least this will save you money on a gym membership.
