Overview

The globe trotter

Because I seek that worldly charm.

Will I like it here?

It would be hard not to.

Are you a traveller looking for a classic apartment in the heart of historic Madrid? This one has the charm you seek.

Really? Tell me more...

You will love the charming decor. Touches of modern, with an eclectic vintage vibe. There's even a very cool Globe. Retrace your steps, or plan your next adventure.

We think it’s ideal for professionals or a small family. Bunk beds for the kids, and a location that is hard to top. If you love to get out and explore, this is the spot.

Your top 3 reasons to live here:

  • The stylish decor. Love that big globe.
  • The balcony. You have to have one in Madrid.
  • The location. Your favourite restaurant is on the corner.

But you need to know this...

  • There is no oven in the kitchen. But, you have a microwave and stove to whip up meals.

Our Homechecker, Lola, said:

"This property is stylish and in a great location. You can walk to just about anywhere, and it's right in the middle of La Latina, Centro, and Lavapies."

Give it to me straight…

This is a stylish 1st floor, 2-bedroom apartment on Calle De La Colegiata, Madrid. It boasts a charming decor, with modern conveniences and classic furnishings. There's a nice balcony too.

We think this apartment is perfect for professionals or a small family. Locations don't get more central than this. Pets are allowed, but check with the landlord first.

What we liked the most

  • Spinning the globe – wherever your finger lands is where you're off to next.
  • Sipping coffee on the balcony – start the day the right way.
  • Exploring the restaurants in La Latina – Madrid's a great spot for foodies.

Things to keep in mind

  • There is a washing machine but no dryer – no probs, just grab yourself a rack.
  • Bedroom 2 is internal and doesn't get a huge amount of natural light. There's no shortage of sun for you to soak up in Madrid through!
  • The apartment is located on a busy street. You may experience some noise, but it is well insulated.

Madrid's historic heart

Overview

Living here you have it all:

  • Shops, bars and architecture on Gran Vía.
  • Tapas at the Mercado de San Miguel.
  • The opulent Royal Palace.
  • Romantic walks in the Sabatini gardens.
  • Brad Pitt opening his latest movie at Cine Callao.
  • Students, tourists, protesters, dancers, and partygoers at the Puerta del Sol plaza.

That's the short version.

The only thing missing is you.

What can I do here?

Visit the El Corte Inglés Gourmet Experience to view Madrid from above. It's on the 9th floor of a very flat city.

Meet your friends by the fountain in Puerta del Sol. On New Year's Eve, people from all over Spain gather here to eat grapes. They eat 12 in total, one for each chime of the midnight bell. It's harder than it sounds.

Be a tourist:

  • Get your clothes and coffee on Gran Vía.
  • Take a photo of the iconic Plaza de Cibeles.
  • Tour the Royal Palace.
  • Go to genteel Plaza Mayor.
  • Be kind to your stomach and go Mercado de San Miguel. Fresh lobster and Albariño wine…

Enjoy good food at good prices at Taverna del Norte.

You can find it on Calle Mesonero Romanos. It serves traditional Spanish cuisine. The atmosphere is warm and low-key. The value for money is superb.

Origin fact

The centre of Madrid is the capital's oldest area. It was founded in the late 800s by the Emir of Córdoba, Muhammad I. Groundbreaking.
