Overview

The navigator’s nest

Because we all love an antiquated map

Will I like it here?

Probably. It's a cosy area with lots of space for your possessions. There’s even an old-style map above the bed, so no more getting lost for the sleepwalkers among us.

Really? Tell me more...

You get a lovely aqua-blue sofa in the living room. Watch the flatscreen TV while you keep an eye on your cooking.

We think this place would suit a single or couple of females who are looking for a simple setup, but have quite a few belongings.

Your top 3 reasons to live here:

  • The bedroom has an additional space, which is like a walk-in closet. Great for picking out an outfit.
  • There's a lot of shelving everywhere. And the bedroom also has a massive wardrobe, just in case.
  • You’ll be near the IE Business School and C.E.I.P. Fundación Caldeiro. Perfect for rolling in and out of class.

But you need to know this...

  • There’s no oven on the property. Just an electric stove. That means you’ll just have to eat out a lot.

Our Homechecker, NAME, said:

“It’s very close to Goya, where there are plenty of shops and restaurants. It could be ideal for postgraduate students, as places of study are very near.”

Give it to me straight...

This is a 2nd floor, 1-bedroom apartment on Calle De Maldonado, Madrid.

We think this is a great spot for a couple or individual who want to be out and about exploring the city. There are loads of storage for clothes and things you’ve collected over the years.

What we liked the most

  • Feeling like a film star picking out you favourite dress from the walk-in style closet.
  • Displaying your trinkets and favourite possessions on the shelves for all to see.
  • Strolling down to your place of study, knowing it’s not far to get back again.

Things to keep in mind

  • It's a simple setup, a bit on the small side. You won't have all of life's little luxuries here, but you can certainly make it your own, and use it as a base to explore the city.

Neighborhood information

Salamanca

Yourchic, upscale heaven

Overview

Chic. Posh. Upscale. You can enjoy the finer things in life here.

With world-class restaurants, chic cafés and expensive boutiques, Salamanca is the "Upper East Side" of Madrid. No wonder members of the Spanish royal family live here.

Want a 1st-class experience?

Salamanca is for you.

What can I do here?

If you have the money, try Ramón Freixa Madrid.

It's a Michelin-rated restaurant. Apparently it's yummy…. There's a menu called "A soft and continuous trip through our universe in 25 moments." Just saying it sounds good. One day, friend, one day.

Spend rivers of cash (or go window shopping) at the boutiques on the Paseo de la Castellana.

Calle José Ortega y Gasset is home to names like Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior and Dolce&Gabbana. Just don't forget your suitcase full of money.

If that sounds expensive, and it is, meet your friends in a chic café instead. Enjoy the bitter aroma of freshly ground coffee beans. Plan your first million.

Portal fact

In Salamanca, you'll see lots of elegant wooden doors made in the 19th century. Refined.

Can I afford it? €€€€ (the most expensive per m² in Spain)
