Neighborhood information

Lavapies: While Embajadores may be its official name, it has become more common for Madrid locals to refer to this area as Lavapiés. While originally the city’s old judería, today it is a labyrinth of narrow streets, faded façades and a seamless blend of cultures for both immigrants and Spaniards alike. With a revival of the area in the 1980s among the young and artistic, Lavapies now has plenty of cultural offerings as well as an abundance of places to enjoy a caña or ethnic food. At the edge of the neighborhood is the Reina Sofía and the Teatro Valle-Inclán.

What we liked the most

  • As the landlord allows pets in the apartment, furry 4-legged tenants are more than welcome
  • The completely renovated apartment is fully furnished with modern and hip décor and appliances
  • The bedrooms are a great size and because of the desks, can function as a work area for tenants
  • It is very close to the city centre, but being an interior, the flat provides a nice getaway from the all the hustle and bustle of the busy streets
  • The apartment is close to several metro and bus stations, as well as one of the main train stations of Madrid

Things to keep in mind

  • There is no oven, but the kitchen does come equipped with a stove, microwave and toaster
  • Though not shown in the photos, there will be an A/C unit in the living room when the new tenants move in!
