Overview

Rooms are available for rent in this 6-bedroom, 2-bathroom apartment in a quiet, residential area of Salamanca. The apartment has mostly internal views from its windows, except for bedrooms 1 and 2 which have street views. Both bathrooms have a shower, toilet, and washbasin. The kitchen is large and has a dining table that can seat 6. It has all the modern appliances including an oven and a washing machine. There is also a TV in the kitchen, to watch from the dining table or while you prepare food.

Ventas Metro is just a 3-minute walk from the property, which can take you quickly to the central areas of the city, such as Sol or Malasaña. For people who like their upmarket shopping, it is a 10-15 minute walk to the shopping district near Manuel Becerra Metro. Also nearby is the small but pretty park Quinta De La Fuente Del Berro, or for some rather more raucous fun, Plaza de Toros de Las Ventas.

What we liked the most

  • This apartment is in a quiet, residential area but is very close to the city centre by Metro (or walking, in about 30-40 minutes).
  • The kitchen is really bright and cheerful, and would be an ideal place to spend some time with your new flatmates.
  • There are 2 bathrooms. Never underestimate the difference an extra toilet and shower can make!
  • If you are interested in some traditional Spanish culture, Plaza de Toros de Las Ventas is on your doorstep, where you can catch bullfighting, or if that doesn't take your fancy, it is also used for Tennis, Red Bull X motocross events, and as a concert venue.

Malasaña

Your explosive, hip, poetic playground

Overview

Do you love neon bars, culture-shock, and the backbeat? Does your heart beat faster to words like authentic, bistro, boutique, organic, vintage, and vinyl?

You'd best get down to Malasaña then.

It's got cool bars and it's dead central. Eclectic bistros, organic-food cafés, and vintage-gear boutiques are everywhere.

Malasaña is base camp for young adults in Madrid. It's a party, and you're invited.

What can I do here?

Get your party started at two of Madrid's best bars, Tupperware and Madrid Me Mata. One loves indie music, the other's a shrine to the 1980s cultural Movida.

If that sounds noisy, try Fábrica Maravillas or Irreale, two quality craft-beer bars.

Microteatro por Dinero is a tiny theatre in a basement. It's only 4 euros, and you're part of the show. There's a bar too. Naughty.

Conde Duque is a huge cultural space in an old guardhouse. You can enjoy an outdoor cinema, a DJ, and food and drink. It's a very chill, very comfortable place.

This has gone on too long. There's no space left to mention Mercado de San Ildefon…

Film fact

Spanish filmmaker Pedro Almodóvar lives in Malasaña. Visionary.

Can I afford it? €€ (mid-range)
