General info

Description

This room is available to rent in a 2.bedroom apartment shared with the live-in landlady. The apartment has a open-plan kitchen, living area, with a sofa, large fridge freezer, stove, and plenty of storage space. The bathroom has a shower, washbasin and toilet. There is also a small balcony overlooking the street.

The apartment is on a quiet, narrow, very typically Spanish looking street in Lavapiés. This is a great location; the streets nearby are filled with small bars and cafes, and this is where some of the best food in the city can be found, in the unassuming little restaurants nearby. You will be just a short walk from the centre of the city in Sol, and less than 15 minutes' walk from the stunning Retiro park.

Neighborhood information

Lavapiés:

Embajadores, although commonly known by the majority of Madrid locals as Lavapiés, is Madrid’s old judería. Today, it is a labyrinth of narrow streets, faded facades and a culturally diverse population between Spaniards and immigrants alike. During the 1980s, during the Movida Madrileña, Lavapiés was the center of the artistic movement, which has given this part of the city a cultural element as well as an abundance of places to enjoy cañas(beers) or different ethnic foods. Other areas of interest are on the edge of the neighborhood, which are the Reina Sofia museum and the Teatro Valle-Inclán.

Flatmates

  • You will share this apartment with the live-in landlady, a woman in her early 30s.

What we liked the most

  • This is a really fantastic location, very central and surrounded by things to see and do.
  • Transport links nearby are great.
  • The balcony looks onto a lovely, typical Spanish street.
  • This is a compact apartment, and still finds room for a washing machine, saving you long trips to the launderette.

Things to keep in mind

  • This apartment does not have a full-size oven. However, it has a stove and a small countertop electric oven.
  • A small dog lives in the apartment.
