Known for its gay friendliness, Chueca is very lively and friendly for people of all age; lately it has also earned the nickname “SoHo” of Madrid for its New York-feel. The center of the neighborhood is Plaza de Chueca and the Mercado de San Antón (just behind Plaza de Chueca), which has a variety of gastronomic offerings from different cuisines.
