Neighborhood information

This flat is located in Embajadores, an area which finds itself between, Lavapies, Atocha, Delicias and Acacias (Arganzuela). Lavapies is popular with young people and artists. Some consider it a “dangerous area”, but residents of the area find this to be untrue. In spite of the seamless blend of cultures, the neighborhood is a crowded one, characterized by narrow streets and buildings with painted facades. The Calle de Argumosa, which runs to the east of Plaza de Lavapies, is fully of trendy bars and is one of the most popular places in Madrid to sit on a terrace and enjoy a caña (small beer). The streets that stretch to the north and west from the plaza are filled with ethnic restaurants and shops.

Atocha and Delicias are great neighborhoods if you want to find relatively affordable accommodation in the center of Madrid and are very well communicated thanks to the Atocha train station, where you can get AVE (high-speed trains to cities all around Spain). At Atocha, you can get Cercanías (suburban trains) to Universities in the South and North of Madrid such as: Carlos III, Universidad Pontificia de Comillas (the campus in Alcobendas), and the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. It is also close to the Retiro and Tierno Galvan parks, as well as the most renowned museums of Madrid. Atocha and Delicias are still very authentic neighborhoods, where you can get a real feel of Madrid.

Acacias is home to the Puente de Toledo, Puerta de Toledo, and the main campus of Universidad Carlos III. The Acacias section of Arganzuela is bordered by Parque de Embajadores, Madrid Río as well as the hip neighborhoods of La Latina and Lavapiés/Embajadores. Along with Metro access via Línea 3 (the yellow) and Línea 5 (the green), Cercanías access is available at Embajadores and Pirámides.

What we liked the most

  • That flat is very tastefully furnished. Nothing here feels out of date or out of place, making your stay here that bit more comfortable.
  • The living room / kitchen makes for a great social space. The seating is all leather and the kitchen has extras included like a dishwasher and kettle.
  • Great cultural centres, such as 'La Casa Encendida', Circo Price Theatre and the world famous Reina Sofia museum on your doorstep. Getting to the centre is also very easy with Sol only two metro stops away!

Things to keep in mind

  • For the twin rooms, there is the option of renting a single bed for a cheaper price and then living with a roomate.
  • The kitchen, though open and modern, is quite compact.
