Neighborhood information

Malasaña is both traditional and alternative. If you enjoy being out and going for drinks, this is the neighborhood for you. By day, the barrio is rather quiet with lots of charming boutiques and restaurants, while at night it transforms into a nightlife hub with an impressive amount of bars and music venues. The style of the neighborhood is defined by traditional 19th century buildings with painted facades, with the Plaza del 2 de Mayo at its core. The Movida Madrileña in the 1980’s thrived here and the creative spirit lives on with Malasaña being home to many of the city’s up-and-coming new businesses along streets such as Corredera de San Pablo and Calle Pez.

What we liked the most

  • The apartment has air conditioning, something that is not entirely common in Madrid. If you don't have the chance to escape to the beach or the mountains in August like most Madrileños, your room will be nice and cool.
  • All of the bedrooms boast individual keys, a great amenity for those who have security high on their list of requirements in an apartment.
  • The kitchen has two things that are often hard to come by in Madrid: a dishwasher (a feature that is often hard to come by in Madrid!), making it ideal for those who don't want the hassle of washing dishes by hand, and an oven, ideal for those who love baking. The kitchen is perfect for foodies!

Things to keep in mind

  • The apartment is located on the second floor of a building without an elevator.
  • The kitchen does not have a refrigerator, but there are fridges in each individual room.
  • Electric is not included in the price of the rent.
