The southern part of Arganzuela is a central yet affordable part of Madrid. This popular area is a contrast to the posh and fashionable North Madrid neighborhoods. A great, residential neighborhood if you want to find an affordable flat, which is only 20 minutes from the city center by metro or a 30 minute walk, and in a place that still has an urban feel. Famous attractions in this area of Arganzuela (Legazpi) are the Casa del Reloj, which currently houses the Arganzuela Municipal District offices, the Enrique Tierno Galván Park, and the Matadero. The Matadero is an old slaughterhouse that has been converted into an arts and cultural space which has arts exhibitions, theater performances, film screenings, a whole variety of workshops for the public including a course on urban bicycle riding, and even bicycle rentals.
