Neighborhood information

Washington
The residents’ choice.

Overview The Milanese say that Washington is one of the best places to live in Milan.

Why?

Let’s count:

  1. It’s chic. If you’re looking for the high life, Washington is the place for you.

  2. It’s easy on the eyes. Washington is an upscale neighbourhood with beautiful architecture and lots of trees.

  3. It’s good for bad habits! In Washington, you can shop, drink and eat til you drop.

  4. It’s close by. Milan’s Centro district is only a few metro stops away.

  5. It’s rocking! Washington is close to a De Angeli, a great example of Milan’s nightlife!

Getting the picture? Welcome to Washington.

What can I do here? Why not start where the residents do? Mercato Comunale Wagner is one of the best local markets in Milan. Take in the colours, sounds and smells! Delizioso!

Hungry? Head over to Via Marghera where you’ll find some of Milan’s best restaurants. Yu Zhou serves delicious Chinese food. Seriously legit noodles, yo.

But when in Milan, do as the Milanese do.

Al Mozzo is your go-to Italian restaurant with a whole display of fresh fish to choose from. Pun alert: the shrimp looks shrimply stunning.

Get it? Shrimply? It’s a play on the word “simply”. It’s funny. Trust us.

Puns aside… do you have cash to burn? Browse the boutiques on Corso Vercelli, or find a perfect fit in the luxury shoe stores of Via Belfiore.

Those with a spring in their step will want to dance the night away in De Angeli. Find the dance floor and get tapping.

American fact
Yep. You guessed it. Washington is named after George Washington. In fact, the Milanese people like him so much, they even named one of their streets Via Giorgio Washington. Hero worship.

Can I afford it? €€ (mid-range)

What we liked the most

  • The apartment has been recently renovated and is very stylish.
  • The neighbourhood offers all the amenities you could need during your stay, including a swimming pool to help you stay fit.
  • There is a dining table in the kitchen where you can enjoy your meals.
  • All rooms are bright and spacious and have their own independent key.

Things to keep in mind

  • The landlord informed us he will provide additional furniture, which wasn't present at the time of our visit, including a wardrobe for bedroom 1, a chair for bedroom 3, and a storage cabinet for the kitchen.
  • There is a maximum of 1 extra tenant allowed in this property. This means that if one room is shared by a couple, the other rooms may only be rented to individuals.
