You might, like me, be affected by a compulsive need to buy books on a daily or weekly basis. If you are like me, you might have piles of books in your home which serve as creative pieces of furniture, nightstands, tables and more. If you are like me, you might not be 100% sure about your current relationship, but you've never had any doubts about your till-death-us-depart love for books. I gotcha, my friend. We are in this together.

Here's a list of 10 books I'm going to take with me to the beach this summer!

1 Less by Andrew Sean Greer

Winner of this year's Pulitzer Prize, Less by Andrew Sean Greer follows Arthur Less, a failed gay novelist around 50 who leaves everything - especially his problems back home - to embark on a trip around the world. An hilarious satire of another American trying to find himself abroad.

2 Meaty by Samantha Irby

Samantha Irby is back with another hilarious essay collection, which tracks her early adulthood daily peak and pit in her unmistakably comic voice.

3 Goodnight Stories for Rebel Girls 2 by Francesca Cavallo and Elena Favilli

Who said that bedtime stories are only for children? I disagree, in fact when I bought the first book for my two nieces, I also bought a copy for myself which now sits on my bedside table. I'm looking forward to buy the second volume which contains another 100 extraorinary stories of 100 extraordinary women around the world. How great is that for little and big girls?

4 Feel Free

A collection of essays is essential in your bag when heading to the beach. Especially if Zadie Smith's latest collection talks about culture, politics, and social media. She asks: What is Facebook really about? "It's a cruel portrait of us: 500 million sentient people entrapped in the recent careless thoughts of a Harvard sophomore." Ouch. Precautions: it might change the way you use social media and the ideas you have about politics and politicians.

5 Still me - Jojo Moyes

10 My Brilliant Friend by Elena Ferrante

I had to include at least another Italian author in this list and since Elena Ferrante's quadrilogy is soon to become an HBO TV series and in 2016 she was named one of TIME’s most influential people of the year, I think it's time I get my head down and read what's all the fuss about her world's best-selling books.
