Free and low-cost attractions in Milan are hard to find, but not impossible. We’ve narrowed it down to our top 3 that will impress you the most:

Duomo cathedral. Duomo is the symbol of Milan and therefore it’s only fair that it’s accessible for everyone. Yep, it’s entirely free! It’s detailed architecture, breathtaking rooftop views and interior designs are going to inspire you and blow you away – definitely a must see!
The Acquario. Did you know Milan has an aquarium? And it gets even better – the building itself is absolutely amazing. You can easily admire it from the outside or pay the 5€ fee and prepare for a spectacular underwater world adventure.
Castle Museums. Brush up on your art and history. Featuring seven museums, ranging from archeology to art, we’re sure you’ll be able to learn all about Milan and its culture. Free admission every Tuesday from 2–5:30 pm; Wednesday–Friday from 4:30–5 pm.

The picturesque market, Mercatone of Antiques, is an excellent choice for those wanting to save money. You’ll find everything – from beautiful antiques to vintage clothing to delicious food. Situated right along the Alzaia Naviglio Grande river, it brings a seaside-like atmosphere and a never-ending local buzz. Mercatone of Antiques takes place on the last Sunday of the month.
Another famous market in the area is Fiera di Senigallia, close to the Porta Genova metro station and full of second hand items. You’ll be surprised at how many bargain treasures you’ll be able to find. Fiera di Senigallia is open only on Saturdays.
Relax in Milan’s parks
As most parks tend to have a free entrance, you should definitely take advantage of this opportunity. And luckily, Milan’s parks really are astounding! From Parco Sempione to Giardini Pubblici Indro Montanelli – grab a picnic basket, a blanket, have a walk around and enjoy the tranquility of nature.
