The apartment itself is spacious, and with exposed wooden beam ceilings in the open-space dining and living area, there is a more relaxed and modern rustic feel. Opening the front door, you’re instantly in the dining area, which has an 8-seat table and is surrounded by a two-wall kitchen. To one side, you’ll find the sink, stovetop and cupboards. The other houses the fridge, oven and microwave. The exposed brick living room, with an amazing window view to the narrow side street off La Rambla, has a long cozy sofa, a large coffee table and a wide-screen TV. There are two sizeable shared bathrooms, so you’ll rarely ever have to wait to take a shower!

In 1995, El Raval began its transformation from an infamous red light district into its current colorfully multicultural and gentrified state. It’s still a busy neighborhood, but these days the streets are walked by artists, bohemians, hipsters and tourists. If you like energy, the crowded cafés and busy bars will be up your alley. Speaking of which, there are lots of narrow alleys where you’ll find cozier, and sometimes quirkier, restaurants and lounges. If you’re feeling whimsical, the Museum of Illusions is a 5-minute walk away. If you love the theater, the splendid 19th Century Gran Teatre del Liceu is 3 minutes away. What we liked the most

  • The common areas of the apartment are spacious and spectacular!
  • The neighborhood is so diverse and vibrant, you’ll have a blast exploring every corner of every street.
  • Almost everything you could want is within walking distance, but if you need to use public transportation, you couldn’t ask for a better location to access a bus or the metro.
  • Tapas bars and restaurants are plentiful, but the incredible Boqueria Market is right next door.
