Neighborhood information

To the left of Passeig de Gracia extends the other side of L'Eixample, which was constructed at the beginning of the 20th Century. Many middle-class Catalans and students from the Universitat de Barcelona (or UB) or the Escola Industrial, among others, that take advantage of the area's proximity to their campuses, the nightlife, and the center of Barcelona to enjoy the city.

At the other end of the area is Las Arenas, now a shopping moral, the city's newest with an overlook that lets you look at Barcelona's skyline. You'll also find Antaño, an old bullring with over 100 years of history. Between these two points you'll find the "Gayfriendly" zone, or as residents call "Gaixample": stores, businesses, and various organizations make it one of the city's most authentic neighborhoods.

In the lower part of th area you'll find the Mercat de Sant Antoni, the city's oldest and that is currently under renovation. On Sunday mornings you can walk through antique books, records, or you can even exchange trading cards.

What we liked the most

  • This flat is full of character and feels very homey and welcoming. We particularly love the quirky kitchen area with exposed brick walls.
  • Bedroom one is absolutely gorgeous. It is spacious, bright and has the added advantages of having the bed situated on a separate little room and its own small fridge. The balcony has amazing views and is a fantastic place to relax with a book or have breakfast.

Things to keep in mind

  • The kitchen is fully equipped, but has no oven
  • The building has no elevator, and this apartment is located on the fifth floor
  • This is an interior flat, but gets plenty of natural light as it has several large windows and is situated high above the ground level
