This renovated 1-bedroom apartment to rent on Rue de la Source is like a dream come true. With high ceilings and details like wood floors and iron radiators preserved from the original building, gorgeous is the only possible word. Opening the front door, you enter into the open-plan kitchen, living and dining area furnished with a sofa, 4-seat glass table, a flat-screen TV in front of the decorative fireplace and fully equipped modern one-wall kitchen. Still, it’s the glass door and large wooden patio overlooking a terrace garden that you’ll notice first. The comfortable and spacious bedroom has a rustic feel, and you’re jaw will drop when you open the door to the massive bathroom with a gorgeous modern tub, double sink and ample wardrobe space.

If you like your new apartment, you’re going to love your new neighborhood. Saint-Gilles is a culturally diverse and bustling area, and Rue de la Source is like a catalog of eclectic architecture, with several examples of Gothic Revival and Art Deco buildings all around. There are a lot of small galleries and larger museums nearby, and also plenty of restaurants and chocolatiers. And if you ever need to relax and enjoy the fresh air, you’re only a 5-minute walk away from Pierre Paulus Park.

What we liked the most

  • The apartment may be modern and up-to-date, but there are unique touches retained from the original building that add a lot of charm and warmth to the space.
  • The massive bathroom is a great space to light some candles and grab a glass of wine, and the patio balcony is a great place for a romantic dinner.
  • There are some terrific art galleries in the neighborhood.
  • The metro and multiple tram line stops are nearby.
