Spotahome's opinion

The steps to this 1-bedroom apartment to rent on Chaussée de Vleurgat will be your new stairmaster! There isn’t an elevator in this older building. The good news? There are only 3 floors and the apartment gets a lot of light, has wood floors and a wonderful French balcony. Furnishings are trendy and minimal. There is a 2-seat foldable table in the main living space, along with a big standalone wardrobe and a futon-style sofa. The bedroom has a chest of drawers, as well as a double bed, and a window with a street view. The bathroom is split into a toilet and shower room, which are side-by-side. The equipped kitchen is modern, but black and white tiling gives it a cool retro feel.

Ixelles may be in suburbia, but if you like a lot of green space or you’re a student, it will suit you fine. The Free University of Brussels is only a 14-minute tram ride. You can walk it in 26 minutes, though. Tenboschpark, a wonderful walled park with gardens, is only 5 minutes from your door, but there are a few other nearby parks for a change of scenery. You’ll find a number of restaurants in the area, and even a couple of local bars. For grocery shopping, just head over to Avenue Louise. Near the tram stop you’ll find a Carrefour Express, the Shop & Go Louise, as well as a Japanese specialty store.

What we liked the most

  • The apartment is sparsely furnished, which means you can add a few of your own personal touches to the decor.
  • Wood floors, bright windows, a French balcony and cool kitchen make this a special spot.
  • There are a variety of restaurants and grocery stores nearby.
  • You’ll discover at least 4 large parks within walking distance.

Things to keep in mind

  • This sparsely furnished apartment is on the third floor of a building without an elevator, so you'll be able to skip leg day at the gym.
