The style of the neighborhood is defined by traditional 19th century buildings with painted facades, with the Plaza del 2 de Mayo at its core. The Movida Madrileña in the 1980’s thrived here and the creative spirit lives on with Malasaña being home to many of the city’s up-and-coming new businesses along streets such as Corredera de San Pablo and Calle Pez.
