Spotahome's opinion
This fantastic 1-bedroom apartment in Navigli is 50 m² and comprises an open plan kitchen and living area with a dining table and 1 bathroom. The very large, bright, and open apartment, has gorgeous original tiled floors – you can see the age from the wear on them – and dark-stained roof beams. The modern kitchen contrasts beautifully with the more rustic feeling original features, and has an almost industrial look to it.
Located on Piazzale Stazione Genova, the apartment is in one of the most picturesque areas of Milan, and has amazing access to public transport. The elegant buldings and paved streets of the Piazzale are like something out of a picture-book of Italian city life, and it only gets better. The area is sandwiched between two of Milan's canals, both of which are just a couple of minutes' walk from the apartment – it's pretty, it's lively, and its full of restaurants and cafés where you can sit at a terrazza, sipping espresso and watching life hurry around you.
What we liked the most
- We love the blend of the original and the brand new – the rustic and the refined.
- There is AC in each of the rooms, which is welcome in the heat of a Milanese summer.
- We know it's not all about lovely cafes and strolls by the canal. Luckily there's plenty more going for the area. From shoe shops to pharmacies, newsagents to supermarkets, you can find it all within a few minute's walk.
- Porta Ticinese, a short walk away, is the centre of Milan's favoured nightlife. Bars, clubs, and restaurants are all in plentiful supply in the surrounding streets.
Things to keep in mind
- Although there is a train station outside of the bedroom window, it is no longer in use, so there will be little noise. (Also the windows have excellent soundproofing!)
