"When you go to Naples, you cry twice: when you arrive and when you leave," they say. Naples is a unique city, best experienced by strolling through its narrow streets, breathing in the aroma of gastronomic delicacies, and admiring its rich artistic and monumental heritage.
Naples is the birthplace of a distinctive culinary tradition for its famous Neapolitan pizza, and the art of its pizza makers has been declared an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.
Strolling along Spaccanapoli, the street that bisects the city, you can experience its millennia-old history through the presence of ancient buildings and churches, such as the Cathedral of Naples and the Maschio Angioino. If there is one place that is symbolic of Naples, it is Piazza del Plebiscito, today a symbol of the new "Neapolitan Renaissance," where tourists come to admire its grandeur and its two jewels: the neoclassical colonnade of the Church of San Francesco di Paola and the Royal Palace. Today, it's also possible to visit the "underground city," or the so-called "belly of Naples," which served as a refuge for Neapolitans during the bombings. Here, tourists can walk through the Greco-Roman aqueduct, past air raid shelters, and finally visit the War Museum.
A must-see is the San Severo Chapel, which houses the Veiled Christ sculpture, one of the most fascinating and mysterious works in Naples, the work of Giuseppe Sanmartino.
Naples Central Station is 1 km from the apartment, while Naples Airport is about a 15-minute drive away.
