Neighborhood information

The district of L’Eixample is comprised of 3 neighborhoods: Ruzafa, El Pla del Remei, and Gran Vía. The most famous and popular is Ruzafa (also spelled Russafa), characterized by its ethnically diverse and cultured atmosphere; it is a place to go for authentic international cuisine (including a location of the Taste of America chain of American food stores). Russafa is a great neighborhood for students as well and due to its vibrant flavor and proximity to the center of the city, it is becoming a target area for cool local small businesses. While L’Eixample lacks the genius of Antoni Gaudí, there are still plenty of elegant Modernist-style buildings throughout the neighborhood. You’ll often find groups of friends meeting on the Plaça de Canovas, which is right next to the famous Edificio Chapo, to go out for the night. This is also the epicenter for Les Falles festival at the end of March, when the city turns into a hotbed destination for travelers worldwide.

What we liked the most

  • The living area is huge, and it has been thoughtfully equipped to create a pleasant common room, including having two sofas, a flat screen TV and a dining table with four chairs.
  • Bedrooms 2 and 3 have their own double sofa, providing their occupants with a private space to chill without being disturbed by other tenants.
  • The kitchen is fully equipped and it opens up to a nice balcony overlooking an interior patio. This is where the washing machine and the racks to dry the washing are kept.
  • The is a second balcony which overlooks the street and is accessed via living area.
  • For added peace of mind, each room has its own independent key.
  • The bathroom is decorated using funky patterned tiles, and there is a large bathtub where you can relax with a hot bath at the end of a busy day.

Things to keep in mind

  • Bedrooms 1 and 4 are interior, but are not dark as they have large windows overlooking an interior patio.
