Goya
Because you gotta… *Go-ya own way.*

You’ll love this...
Ditch the rabble and retire to this leafy urban paradise.

But you won’t love this...
It’s a bit bourgeoisie and lacks the street spirit of, say, Chueca.

Will I like living here?...
Goyans will tell you it’s a central city gem.

Sitting atop the mighty Retiro park, it’s a looker, with wide tree-lined boulevards, classic Spanish architecture, fine dining, and designer shopping... Because you’re worth it.

Puerta del Sol (the dead-centre of Madrid) is a brisk 30-minute walk away.

The giant, gentile Retiro park is on your doorstep. You can take a class there in the open air and greenery. Yoga, pilates, yogalates? Rollerblade, boxing, rollerboxing? It’s all on.

And if you’re bored...
Mercado De La Paz: It’s a beautiful covered market offering fresh produce and some great places to eat. Google rating: 4.⅘ And this Google review nails it: ”Excellent fresh food market tucked away in the back streets of Salamanca. I bought some purple green beans, can't wait to give them a try”. – Siri, are green beans green beans if they’re purple?

Anything else?
The magnificent Parque del Buen Retiro deserves a special mention. It’s Madrid’s green lung – and the ultimate place to hang on sunny summer afternoons. Sit by the lake and hail the friendly backpack beer vendor. How do they keep those beers so cold?

And did you know?…
Francisco de Goya is widely considered to be the last of the Old Masters. In 1793 he suffered a severe illness that left him deaf. Romanticism turned to cynicism, and his bleak view of humanity started to show in his artwork. Check out The Quinta del Sordo for a glimpse of the dark side of Goya.

Getting to and from the airport...
