Garibaldi
Milan + Manhattan = Milan-hattan!

Overview
You would be forgiven for thinking Garibaldi was its own city.

This super-suburb has it all. Shopping centres, high rise buildings, plazas, bright lights and late nights.

But... there is history here, too. For every glass spear piercing the sky, there is a row of worn terraces. And for every big restaurant chain, a quiet independent bakery. For every urban plaza, a gateway steeped in the past.

The result, as we say, is “Milan-hatten”. Italy’s culture and New York’s power in perfect harmony.

We would suggest a name change, but Garibaldi fits the district perfectly. See our “Fun fact” to find out why!

So whether it is in broad daylight or by evening’s electric glare, Garibaldi has what you need.

What can we say. We love the place.

What can I do here?
Old or new, Garibaldi has something for you.

Let’s start with the old. The first stop is Porta Garibaldi - the city gate that gives the district its name.

Monumentale Cemetery should be next on your list. Admire the incredible architecture and ornate gravestones.

It’s a lot less creepy than it sounds.

Anyway... onto the new!

Garibaldi has all the shopping you will ever need in one awesome place.

10 Corso Como is a multiplex with all the food, music and goodness-knows-what under one roof. Head there if you need... well, anything.

Fancy something sweet? Princi is a very popular cake shop and there’s too much cake for the residents to eat! Go help them out.

After your cakes, see the awe-inspiring Bosque Vertical residential tower block in Isola. Tree-lined apartments? Yes please!

And to enjoy the city vibe, head to the elevated Piazza Gae Aulenti and watch Milan drift by.

Fun fact
The suburb gets its name from Giuseppe Garibaldi.

After defeating Napoleon’s army, Garibaldi chose not to rule the ‘new Italy’ he had created.

Instead, he let someone else rule so that Italy could be united.

Garibaldi’s amazing humility makes him a popular and symbolic figure among Italians. We can see why.
