Paris’s 5th arrondissement is home to the popular Latin Quarter as well as several architectural feats such as the Panthéon and Saint-Michel square. It is almost obligatory to visit the Panthéon if you are in this area, as it is the resting place of influential historical figures such as Voltaire, Victor Hugo and Émile Zola. Despite being popular amongst tourists thanks to its selection of restaurants and nightlife, the Latin Quarter is a perfect residential choice for students. This is because it is home to universities and institutions such as Panthéon-Sorbonne University and the University of Paris 3-7. It can be pleasant to meander through picturesque Parisian streets whilst browsing shops and exploring cafés and restaurants, and it is equally worth visiting the Jardin des Plantes and the other museums and cinemas that are placed in this arrondissement. With plenty of metro stations nearby, this area offers easy access to other parts of the city - Paris Nord is just a 20 minute metro ride away! Fun fact: If you’ve seen Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris, you might want to visit the steps behind the Panthéon to the left side of Eglise Saint-Etienne-du-mont. It is from this staircase that Owen Wilson’s character was whisked back in time to the 1920s!
