Overview

This is a really beautiful little apartment, available to rent on a pretty side street in the beloved district of Malasaña. The apartment is in a historic building, and used to be a taberna / cafe called Casa Angel, since the 1800s. Full of original features, (and with some decorations from the taberna still visible) the apartment's cosy 45 m² are put to great use, modernised where they need to be, but with careful consideration given to keeping the aesthetic. The kitchen is small, but includes an electric stove and small fridge, and there is a modern bathroom with a shower cubicle.

On a relatively calm (for Malasaña) side street, this is also a fantastic location. Malasaña has a lot to offer, from secret little restaurants, to super trendy bars, and is filled with little boutique stores. Bustling, hectic, and fun, it is one of the most enjoyable places to live in Madrid, and has a wonderfully eclectic variety of residents.

What we liked the most

  • Real care has been taken in designing this apartment, shown by little touches like the brown AC unit, so that it blends into the wall.
  • We love the whole apartment. Rustic and historic, but with the modern creature comforts.
  • Although there isn't space for a washing machine or dryer in the apartment, you will have use of them in the communal laundry room on the floor below.
  • Madrid is easy to explore from here, with Chueca close by, and Gran Via and Centro just a short walk away.
  • Some of Malasaña's best locations are just moments from the apartment, including Calle del Pez, Plaza Juan Pujol, and Plaza Dos de Mayo.
