Affori
The town with five names

Overview
Affori has been around for over a thousand years, and yet very few of us know what its real name is!

We have Affoni, Afoni, Afori, Avoni and Affori. Five names for one great little town to the north of Milan. Affori is what's on today's maps though, so we’ll stick with that.

As with most of Milan's suburbs, Affori is best known as a commuter route. This is a well-connected town for workers going into the city every day.

Affori is the perfect residential town, free from the mania of Milan. Here, people favour peaceful evenings and weekend walks.

What sets Affori aside from other suburbs is quite how green it is. The neighbourhood contains a lot of parks that give the town a friendly and rural vibe. And beyond the area, even more open spaces wait for weekend trips and picnics.

Looking for the right place to call home? Affori might be for you!

What can I do here?
Affori is a beautiful area, and you have a choice of parks to enjoy.

While the sun is shining, check out Parco Villa Litta. Lush green grass. Trees to climb. And a local library smack bang in the middle of it. Borrow a book and relax, maaan!

And then there’s Parco Delle Favole. There’s a cycling path there, so whip out the two-wheeler and be sure to take a helmet. The kids like playing football so there may be a stray ball or two! Totti.

Want some culture instead? Head to the Paolo Pini Art Gallery. There’s lots of paint arranged into pleasing patterns.

What about this for a mouthful. Visit the Istituto Delle Apostole Del Sacro Cuore Di Gesu. What a name! (It’s a church, by the way!)

And hey, this is a commuter town, so you know there’s plenty of opportunity to head into Milan city centre.

And Bovisasca Metropoli shopping centre is up the road if you want to update your wardrobe.

If you’re hungry, chow down at Al Paradiso della Pizza. It’s cheap and sooo good. Cunning linguists can translate it to “Pizza Paradise”. They got the name spot on.

Fun fact
Nobody knows where the name Affori comes from! Possible origins include “By the Spring”, “By the Market” or, simply “Outside”.
