"Forlanini / Mecenate
Calm and well-connected

Overview
The Lambro River runs right through it.

Because of this, Forlanini / Mecenate has always been used for agriculture. You can still see that legacy today – just look at its many parks and green spaces.

Parco Forlanini is the biggest park in the area. Nature enthusiasts will love it for its many species of birds and fish. It’s also home to several historic buildings, like Cascina San Ambrosio.

Want to live like a local? Forlanini / Mecenate is for you! It’s a very residential area. You’ll see traditional buildings mixed with modern apartments and offices.

You’ll be on the outskirts, but well connected. You can reach both the city centre and the Politecnico de Milan in under 40 minutes.

What can I do here?
Have a picnic in Parco Forlanini and bird watch. There’s a large lake there too. Perfect for a stroll!

There are lots of other parks here too. If Parco Forlanini isn’t for you, one of the others will be sure to become your favourite...

...Like Idroscalo, for example.

It’s not technically in Forlanini – it’s just on the other side of the airport. It’s Milan’s largest man-made lake, originally created as a runway for seaplanes. Here you can waterski, rock-climb, row, said, horse ride, kayak, canoe, and more!

But if you don’t want to be active, head back into Forlanini and catch a show at the Teatro Delfino. It’s a great way to practise your Italian, or just to relax.

Beforehand, have a pre-theatre meal at Ristorante Pizzeria Al Portico. Make sure you’re hungry! The dishes are huge, and great value for money. Can’t eat it all? They’ll pack it up for you to take home with you!

Fun fact
Most people know the neighbourhood thanks to the song by Enzo Whittaker. It’s a comical yet romantic story of a criminal gang in the district. Don’t worry, you’re safe!
